Should You Do It Yourself?

In a slow real estate property market having a real estate agent on your team is a great help. The boom economy has produced many more homes for sale by owner in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and opened up a viable way to buy your own property by being your own agent. That is not to say you don't need an agent, just that there are times that to offer to buy that piece of real estate may not require one.

Your real estate agent is well versed in the property market and with the incredible economy right now in the prairie province she is kept hopping. There are times though when venturing out on your own to buy property is a good thing too. Aside from not having to pay the commissions, it is a great feeling to be able to see a property you want to buy and just go and knock on the door instead of taking the chance that your agent isn't available and the sale goes to someone else. If you are new to the real estate investing market this may not be wise as you have to have an understanding of the system to avoid pitfalls.

You have to weigh out the value your agent brings to the table when you want to buy against the expedience and money saved of presenting your own real estate property offer. Many times it is money well spent and there is a reason you have that agent on your team. With the crazy economy in Alberta getting your offer in quickly usually makes the difference between becoming a property owner and missing the deal.
