The Effect of Employment in the Alberta Oil Sands
20 Nov 2006
Alberta, the Employment Mecca
With the real estate market in Alberta, Canada going crazy, there is no underestimating the effect of employment in the Alberta Oil Sands as it is a major contributor to that province having the lowest unemployment rate in all of Canada.
Sophisticated real estate investors who were astute enough to buy property in Alberta, Canada or those fortunate enough to already have homes there, are riding the wave of a boom investment market. In 2004 the Construction Owners Association of Alberta projected that with the Alberta construction projects that were on the books at that time, there will be a need for 38,000 construction craft personnel needed when it peaks in 2010. As a result of the construction industry alone, employment calls have gone out across Canada and indeed the world. Statistics Canada show that nearly forty percent of hiring now occurs in Alberta. Following this information it stands to reason that these in-migrants are all going to need homes to live in and if they are not in a position to buy homes they will have to rent.
This idea gets the blood of every real estate property investor going as this is the type of red hot market we dream of and it is in our own back yard. There has never been a better time to own property and the trend looks like it will continue. It's not too late to get in on the rush and when you think the price of that property is too high, think again because it will continue to go up for a few more years yet. Do your homework and get in on the opportunity!
