Homes For Sale By Owner

Should You Be Your Own Agent?

The time has come for you to move and you are just now seeing the magnitude of the time and cost involved to sell you home and buy a new one. Before turning to a real estate agent you decide to look at homes for sale by owner and see if you can do it yourself. The discount you get is usually worth the effort but you must be careful. There are reasons that agents are still around and doing pretty well in a hot market.

Investing in the real estate can be rewarding when you find a home property at a good price. If you don't know the market or much about how to buy and sell real estate however, you could find yourself in trouble. This is especially true if the vendor is a novice as well. What is the vendor responsible for? What are your duties? Is the vendor above board? These are things you need to know before you sign on the dotted line.

When you buy your own home you can let a little emotion into the equation as you will be living there. When investing in a property however, you must leave the emotion out and buy solely on it's investing merit. Don't let the vendor sell you on a property that you haven't done your due diligence on. It is a common market mistake that you will regret for a long time.

The market for vendors sidestepping the real estate agents is a good one and can serve you well if you remain careful and buy with your eyes wide open
