Online Real Estate Investing

Does It Make Sense?

It is amazing what is made available at our fingertips through the Internet. You can buy just about anything you like with a few clicks on a keyboard. While eBay is doing a fantastic business selling everything from Elvis memorabilia to cars, online real estate investing should not be one of them.

When you are looking at real estate property as an investment it is critical to do your due diligence. Do your homework on that property before you buy it and do your market homework before you sell or rent it. With the Alberta market going crazy there are numerous opportunities available for long term rent investment or short term "flips". Either way when you buy or sell a home it is imperative that you do so seriously. Just because the opportunities are there doesn't mean it is a wise investment.

There are those who will buy or sell a property on the word of someone else but they are the exceptions. If you have a support team in place that you can trust it is a good way to go, especially when you want to buy a home long distance. Buying a property sight unseen off the Internet is a whole other story. Of course there are reputable people who want to sell their home and see the advantage of the world wide market, however, we have all heard the stories of what happens when you blindly trust what you see on the monitor at home.

Whether you are going to rent a home or looking for opportunities for investment, don't take anyone else's word for it. Check it out for yourself!
